Am I nervous? Heading to Crow Agency, Montana

Thursday evening, July 31, 2014
Packing up tonight to head out for my next volunteer team leader experience.  This time, to Crow Agency , Montana.  This is a relatively new site for Global Volunteers.  We have been asked to help out on the Crow reservation......a poor and isolated area of Montana.  I am thrilled that 9 of the 11 team members are repeat volunteers from my first West Virginia trip in 2012.  That is an honor!  I will excited to see everyone again, to catch up, and to welcome two new team members to our group. If things go as planned(when does that ever happen on a Global trip?), we will spend the first few days helping to restore the historic home of Chief Plenty Coups, the last chief of the Crow tribe.  We will be housed in the Head Start building in Crow Agency, its been described as something akin to "indoor camping".  Tomorrow after I arrive in Billings, I will be preparing for the team, shopping, setting up and getting acquainted with the town and the local contacts.  Hoping that the Head Start van, which was broken down in June, is fully repaired and ready to roll.

Heading out for a new project, finishing up at work, packing up is always filled with mixed emotions:  excitement, anxiety, worry about leaving my team at work, hopes for a fun and productive week.  As always, I extend tremendous gratitude to those at home and work, who make it all possible.

Yes, I am nervous.
Love from Denver, and more from Crow Agency
Barbara
